About Firefax

I worked for years as  Network Technician doing desktop support for a computer sales company.  After seven years, I left the company to pursue an acting career. (Shortly thereafter the company went under, but I'm pretty sure that had nothing to do with me.)

Acting jobs were few and far between so I got a job in a restaurant doing food preparation. This company folded also - again, nothing to do with me! - so I got a job in the kitchen at Wild Oats, a supermarket here in town.

When Wild Oats was bought up by Whole Foods all the department cleaned house and I was low man on the totem pole so off I went.

Since then I've lived on my Unemployment Insurance - which has since run out.  I'm just having a run of bad luck. I'm still looking for regular work as well as the occasional acting gig to stay afloat.

I don't want to lose my apartment as I've been here for so long, my rent is cheaper than anywhere else in the neighborhood and I'll never find a rate like it again if I leave.

I just want to find work. I'll do anything.

Looking to Network...

Hi..   My name is Marcy Scott.   I found this page by looking for government grants for youth development programs.    It is my intention to find others who run similar programs so we can network and share ideas and resources.

I work with Ark Angels and Young Life, indirectly, and am designing a Youth Self-Sustainment program for ages 12-19, so that upon graduation, young people will have a defined and targeted direction and purpose and will know what needs to be done to become a contributing member of society.    I am also designing a program for low income/poverty stricken individuals to teach them the principles of The Secret and assist them in creating/maintaining abundance for themselves.   Having struggled financially, myself, for the last 5 years, I have learned what it is to go without and to make touch choices...      bread or toilet paper...    drive around looking for work or save the gas for necessary trips, ie, doctor appts, etc.   I want to help young people to avoid being in this situation and I want to help adults to change their situation, permanantly.

Any constructive feedback/suggestions are welcome.

About moma5

I am a single mother of 5 beautiful active children. I have three boys and two girls ranging from 5 months to 10 years. I have some college credits and would love to eventually get a degree in business. I would like to network with other people with similar age children for play, mom's night outs, babysitting tradeoffs, resources, clothing, and other things that are not otherwise accessible to people who are low income like myself. I am also looking for a sewing machine to make and repair my children's clothes and I want to make purses and sell them; and am currently sewing by hand (very slow).

I am currently on an extended unpaid leave from work due to my ADHD son and the inability to find adequate childcare for him and my 5 month old. This has led me to a very bad financial place. We are behind on everything (my water will be shut off tomorrow) and running out of basic necessities. I have been trying to look into work at home opportunities but they all seem like scams. I do receive some help for food and rent from two agencies, but they have yet to "work the change" as they put it; of me not working since 9/28/07. My rent is still almost $600 and I have no way to pay for utilities, household items, shoes, school uniforms, and don't get me started on Christmas or Birthdays. I was severely depressed several years ago and it made things so much worse back then and would really like to network as I stated above with others. I have found that being in poverty increases depression and the willpower to find a way out of the bad situation. I have also noticed that utility cost has skyrocketed and funding is slim to none in most areas. Anyone else?

Lastly I would like to say that I will be going through my girls' clothing for winter to see what fits. I ALWAYS give the clothes to others that need them. There are some really nice things and some things are only for play. Resale shops don't pay enough to waste the gas and I hope to have the favor returned. I have already given away all the boys' clothes I can sorry. My friends have boys. God bless and good luck to you.
